Singapore Casket Company is today the largest funeral service provider in Singapore with the staff strength of over 40 dedicated employees. Singapore Casket Company has served for over 80 years and continues to serve the major religions of the Singapore community with its One-Stop professional and personalised funeral services. The Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of InvoCare Ltd, a public-listed company on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) Board. InvoCare is the largest funeral services provider in Australia, owning and operating funeral homes, cemeteries and crematoria. Singapore Casket Company Pte Ltd was founded on 3rd January 1920 by the late Mr John Hochstadt with only a handful of staff. Although the Company is no longer a family-owned company of the founder Mr John Hochstadt and his descendants, the founder's grandson, Mr Herman R Hochstadt, a veteran pioneering public officer of pre- and post-independent Singapore and former Chairman and Director of several companies in Singapore and other countries, continues to serve on the Board of the Company as non-executive Director. From its humble beginnings in 1920, through patient hard work and perseverance, the Company and its business have grown and expanded over the years. In November 1940, the Company acquired its own premises at 131 Lavender Street which it has occupied and operated from till today. Singapore Casket Company survived World War II and the Japanese Occupation during which the founder, Mr John Hochstadt, perished. His widow and fellow founding shareholder and Director in the Company passed away soon after the end of World War II. But through those difficult times of limited resources and dire shortages, the strong loyalty, co-operation and hard work of the Company's dedicated staff saw the Company through to progress and growth in subsequent years to make the Company what it is today - the leading provider of funeral services in Singapore. Today, Singapore Casket Company has its own 6-storey building with new facilities, including air-conditioned parlours specially designed for the comfort of the bereaved families. The parlours are also equipped with special ventilation systems to facilitate the Chinese traditional custom of burning joss sticks and paper money. There are also high-tech embalming theatres, a reception that provides funeral counselling and a showroom with coffins on display. Singapore Casket Company values and sincerely appreciates all its employees who constantly dedicate their personal attention and strong commitment to service the bereaved families with the utmost compassion. We look forward to many more years of dedicated work in continuing service to the Singapore community. |
