Central to the Taoist funeral service is a Taoist priest who conducts the rites, including chanting, prayers, and symbolic rituals reflecting Taoist beliefs. These ceremonies usually take place at a funeral parlour or HDB Void Deck, where an altar is arranged with incense, candles, food and offerings like joss paper, which is burned to provide for the deceased in the afterlife.
